Saipem showcases the CCUS tech

Oct 16 – Saipem has demonstrated its FlatFish autonomous underwater vehicle in Trieste, showcasing technologies designed to improve CO₂ leak detection and monitoring at offshore carbon capture and underground storage sites (CCUS). The technology is gaining relevance in the European power sector as a means of mitigating emissions from coal- and gas-fired generation. Saipem’s demonstration highlighted how autonomous robotics can enhance the operational reliability of offshore CCUS operations and help operators and electric utilities meet increasingly stringent EU environmental regulations.

Total, KKR to add 700 MW in Texas

Oct 13 – TotalEnergies and KKR have agreed to add 700 MW to their joint venture, which currently holds 1.4 GW of capacity. The transaction covers a portfolio of three large-scale solar power plants located in Texas and Ohio, due commissioned by the first quarter of 2027. All electricity generation by these assets will be marketed by TotalEnergies, which also owns three open-cycle gas power plants with a combined capacity of 1,500 MW in Wolf Hollow, near Dallas, Colorado Bend (530 MW – 74 MW) and La Porte (150 MW), both southeast Houston.

Hyundai engine blocks for ERock

Sept 9 – HD Construction Equipment and US onsite power provider ERock have signed a mult-year deal for the supply of gas engine blocks for ERock’s so-called RockBlock generator, deployed to power data centers and critical infrastructure in Texas and beyond. ERock has a track record of supply electricity to customers like Meta and Microsoft, and has more than 400 operational sites and 1.1 GW of installed power generation base.

TTF gas prices rise after Trump rejects Hormuz deal

Sept 28 – European gas prices at the Dutch TTF rose nearly 2.5% on Monday after US President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears that disruptions to Middle East LNG shipments could persist into the winter. The bullishness at Europe’s benchmark gas trading hub is exacerbated by fear of gas shortages, given that gas storages are just under 70% full in key gas consuming markets such as Germany. The Dutch TTF front-month Oct26 contract was last seen trading at €74.05 per Megawatt-hour, while the Brent contract for November delivery was last seen changing hands at $108.08 per barrel.
