Toshiba JSW Turbine and Generator Pvt., a Toshiba Group company based in Chennai, India, has won a contract worth US$470 million to supply of three 800 MW supercritical steam turbine and generator island packages to NTPC, India's largest state-owned energy service provider. Delivery of the equipment will start in 2013, Toshiba JSW said today.
The German power market is undergoing a transition in generation capacity on the supply side, while demand growth remains subdued, the French investment bank Societe Generale said. "2013 will be a key year for new build, but retirement decisions will be a key strategic variable as early as this year," the bank said in a special report.

Statkraft today said it will not replace a gas-fired power plant in Emden, north-west Germany.
