Significant amounts of new-built battery storage capacity is needed in the US to balance growing intermittent energy supply from renewables. According to the EIA’s 2021 Outlook, which reflects current laws and regulations, over 59 gigawatts (GW) of battery storage will serve the grid in 2050.
