The European energy transition is set to create the need for new business models from utilities and start-up power providers, delegates at the Power-Gen Europe conference heard. “If you’re still thinking of gas fired power in terms of a commodity then you are thinking about it in the wrong way. In the future it will be predominantly delivered as a service, centred around availability and flexibility,” Jim Lightfoot, chief operating officer at E.on generation said.
