Mexican energy sector reforms, enacted at the beginning of this year, are at risk of encountering “substantial financial and political difficulties” that could hold back development. Amrita Sen, researcher at the Oxford Institute of Energy Studies (OIES) warned of “some of the intended objectives of the energy reform may not materialise, at least not as fast as the government and some market analysts are predicting."
