The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has diverted 33 billion cubic metres (Bcm) of natural gas to fuel the country’s power plants between March and September as demand for electricity grows. "Gas supply to power plants in winter is expected to reach 50 million cubic metres (mcm) per day," Nasser Ebrahimi, director of NIGC said, speaking to Dubai-based news agency Zawya.
