Colorado Springs Utilities has ordered six of GE’s LM2500XPRESS aero-derivative gas turbines to bridge the supply gap as the Martin Drake coal-fired power plant needs to be retired by 2023. A new transmission line to power the downtown area of Colorado is due completed in 2025.
