Japan’s largest LNG importer JERA has started a demonstration project for hydrogen co-firing at an LNG- fuelled power plant. Hydrogen does not emit CO2 when burnt; hence JERA is looking to co-fire its large-scale LNG thermal power plants in Japan with hydrogen or ammonia to achieve its zero-emission target.
