More than half of the 479-MW capacity at Pelican Point Power Station in southern Australia will be mothballed by operator GDF Suez, leaving operational just 230 MW early next year in reaction to falling electricity demand in Adelaide and high fuel costs curbing profit margins compared with subsidized wind and solar power.
