General Electric’s energy grid solutions business has been awarded two contracts from the Governments of Benin and Cote d’Ivoire to upgrade the distribution grid and improve the power capacity of substations to reduce energy losses. Electrification rates lie below 45% in many countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, making grid-development a key issue energy security of households and businesses.
