Duke Energy’s subsidiary in Indiana has brought forward the date for planned retirement of more than 4,100 MW coal-fired capacity. Instead, the utility plans to add some 1,240 MW of cleaner-burning natural gas, 700 MW of wind energy, and 1,650 MW of solar power by 2037.
