Germany’s Free Democratic Party (FDP) has given consent for the new coalition government to instate a climate ministry, to be led by the Green Party, while the Social Democrats (SPD) will propose the new Chancellor. The new ministry could centralise competencies currently spread out over several other ministries to ensure Germany will meet its CO2-reduction targets.
