German utility RWE is turning from coal to hydrogen by installing electrolysers in Lingen to allow Thyssenkrupp convert its blast furnace to run on gaseous hydrogen by 2022. A 100 MW electrolyser produces 1.7 tons of H2 per hour, enough to make 40,000 tons of climate-neutral steel.
