Siemens Energy and Mitsubishi Electric jointly develop high-voltage switchgear that substitutes sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) with clean air for insulation. Research starts with a 245-kV dead-tank circuit breaker, but once developed, the two OEMs will manufacture and sell the switchgear independently.
